Munich Clinic Bogenhausen

München Klinik Bogenhausen is the largest hospital in the city, where more than 80,000 patients receive treatment in just one year. It has 18 specialized departments where patients receive qualified medical care around the clock. The centers operate interdisciplinarily and have the opportunity to consult with leading specialists from Germany, Europe and around the world.

Bogenhausen Clinic has numerous medical certificates and awards from almost all associated specialized societies:

• Trauma center and Endoprosthetics Center, certified by the German Society of Traumatology;
• Cardiology Clinic, certified by the German Society of Cardiologists;
• Neurosurgery Clinic with the status of a neurooncology center of the German Society of Oncologists;
• Diabetes center, certified by the German Diabetes Society;

Since March 2021, the Cardiology and Intensive Care Clinic at Munich Clinic Bogenhausen is one of four clinics in Germany and the first clinic in southern Germany to successfully use the new three-dimensional mapping system KODEX EPD together with the cryo balloon for navigation.

Neurosurgery

Neurosurgeons in this multidisciplinary department of the Munich City Clinic perform the most complex operations on the brain and spinal cord. They achieve success in treating complex conditions such as hemangiomas and brain tumors, spinal stenosis and astrocytoma. Here they also restore people's ability to walk and withstand physical exertion even after spinal injuries. Professional athletes also turn to the neurosurgeons of Bogenhausen for help.

Head of the Neurosurgery Department is Professor, Doctor of Medicine Jens Lehmberg. His total experience in leading neurosurgical departments is more than 10 years. The professor shows particular interest in skull base and spine surgery, neurooncology and vascular neurosurgery.

Angiology, Obesity and Endocrinology

The priority direction is the treatment of type 1 and 2 diabetes mellitus and diabetic foot. During diagnostic measures, the causes of obesity are clarified, and diet and daily routine are selected. Patients in this department receive semi-inpatient treatment, but if their condition poses a threat to their own health and life, they are obligatorily hospitalized.

Head of the department since 2010 is Doctor of Medicine, Professor Robert Ritzel. He has extensive experience thanks to long-term work at the university hospital and personally conducted research in Germany and the USA.

Orthopedics and Traumatology, Sports Medicine

The key direction is the diagnosis and treatment of hip dysplasia, which is one of the most common congenital malformations. The department is famous not only for fast and accurate diagnosis, but also for successful treatment – this allows avoiding irreversible pathological changes.

Head of the department is Doctor of Medicine Ludwig Seebauer. Of particular interest to him is the treatment of shoulder joint diseases using conservative and surgical methods.
